The story behind our food
Food - and the people who produce it - play an irreplaceable role in our health, wellbeing, identity and culture. Yet, many Irish consumers feel increasingly removed from how our food is produced, with only one in ten Irish people now having a direct connection to a farm.
Our Food Roots brings Ireland’s agri-food sector together to help close that gap - opening discussion into the people, the land, the care and the progress behind what we eat.
Because food doesn’t just appear on shelves. It begins in fields, on farms, and in families and communities across Ireland.
We’re here to share that story openly and honestly - building understanding, addressing misconceptions, and being clear about both the progress being made and the challenges still ahead.

Our Water, Our Responsibility
Research shows that water quality as an environmental topic ranks very highly in importance to Irish people, yet understanding of the issue is low and often shaped by personal experience rather than national evidence. Here we explain why water matters, describe our water types and highlight some of the influences on its quality. We also spotlight some of the actions being taken across the farming community to protect water quality.
